The week before last we were at the Circle Craft show in Vancouver and a man named Murray came in to buy two tea towels. I am guessing he was about 70 and he chose one towel about walking and another about ice cream. He then explained to us that twice a week he does a walk with his exercise group and then they all go to McDonald's for ice cream. He said that the cones at McDonald's are only $1.89, whereas they are $3.79 at the Dairy Queen. After some discussion about how good he felt about the savings he was making, he added that in order to get to his McDonald's he had to drive 30km and on the way he passed three Dairy Queens! Sylvia and I cracked up laughing and then he told us he drove there in his Hummer. When we had recovered, he added that he had not lied about the savings on the ice cream but that he actually drove a Hyundai Sante Fe. Still, it is not an EV or a Smart Car so it likely costs a bit more than $1.90 of gas, (his savings) to get to his ice cream store.
I thought that was a funny story. The illustration is of what Murray looks like in case you see him on the street. Or at McDonald's.
